"rock'n'roll free jazz"

The Solar Fire Trio was founded in 2005 by Ray Dickaty and Dave Jackson, two northwest sax players with a mission to combine the no-holds-barred improvisational ethos of free jazz with the exuberance and rebellious spirit of rock music.
After trying various drummers (including Chris Corsano and Manchester improv genius Phillip Marks) they located the best drummer for the job in the multi-talented Steve Belger.
Based on the principles of total collective improvisation, learned from years of playing in a wide variety of musical situations, combined with our love of the hard core drive and immediacy of rock'n'roll, our aim is to make improvised music stripped to it’s primal essence – energy & rhythm, uncompromising in it’s freedom
